People make first impressions in about 6 to 8 seconds. If your site is slow, sluggish, or performing poorly due to bad design, or unweildly javascript or flash, it will make the wrong impression.
There are a number of issues in site performance:
- Number of websites per server
- Database design
- Network configuration (Firewalls, Load Balancing Servers, etc)
- Code Caching and Query Caching
- Website design
During peak periods such as Christmas, traffic can spike 7 to10 times on a webserver. We take this seriously. For our Vin | 65 sites, and for our parent company K1 Technology sites, we feel we have the right balance of hardware and software to handle this load. We employ a full time server technician who watches performance, and monitors traffic. We invest heavily in hardware and in education to ensure that we are on top of the latest technology and methods for delivering better performance.
You don't want to have a website that responds slow when a customer is trying to place an order.
