We're Hiring

Come work with us

Ruby/Rails Developers (Intermediate Or Senior)

Vancouver, BC

Job Description:

If you have a passion for building web applications and love working in a team, we want to work with you. We want you to play an active part in our development at a niche and nimble SaaS company.

We play in the wine industry, with over 1200 wineries using our ecommerce, wine club, and POS software today (we are the largest software player in the space).  While existing wineries love our tools - our platform is still on some legacy ColdFusion, MS SQL and we are working on modernizing it to Rails, Node.js, and Aurora DB.

You will lead the team to support the existing platform and lead the migration to the new platform.

Specifically, you will be responsible to:

  • Work with the team and set the standards (coding and otherwise). It’s everyone's responsibility to ensure they adhere to the standards.
  • Work with the team to design the architecture of the system.
  • Work with the team to explore new technologies and set the technical direction.
  • Be a mentor for lower level software developers and programmers, and get mentored by other senior developers.
  • Actively participate in meetings with the product development team.

Desired Skills & Experience:

Of course, we want the usual skill set: efficient, organized, follow through on commitments. You’re intelligent, have great analytical skills and pay attention to detail. In addition, you’re calm under pressure, have a great work ethic and communicate well.

But more than the usual skills, we want you to push and not accept the mundane. Push yourself to grow our other junior and intermediate developers into senior developers. Push for a higher standard. Be open to new ideas and personal feedback. Try stuff, fail, and learn from it.

Come to us with:

  • Some type of education
  • Lots of experience
  • Strong knowledge of good architecture
  • Passion

Company Description

Who is Vin65?

Since 2008, Vin65 has come from start-up to now being the leading wine ecommerce and point of sale platform with a growing client base. It grew because of a team effort - a team who is very passionate about the web – with a large focus on the customer.

We started out with four guys in a basement out of a small town called Abbotsford, BC (Western Canada, right above the US border). In 2013, we moved to Vancouver, BC's Gastown area. We now have offices in Vancouver (Canada/HQ), Napa (USA) and Adelaide (Australia).

How to apply:

Email your resume to brent@vin65.com. We'll also be looking for your portfolio, social media accounts, GitHub contributions, etc. if it makes sense for the role that you’re applying for.
